The Human Statues photo shoot featured here is one of my all-time favourite body painting missions so far. It was organised by Jeremy Holloway who runs Keeko Entertainments, an entertainments agency based in Weymouth, Dorset. I think it's the only time to date that I've helped paint two people AND model for two body paintings myself in the same day. I found out about the shoot through a message which Jeremy posted on the alt.art.bodypainting newsgroup back in early 2001, where he was advertising for body painters and models. |

The venue for the photo shoot was the Royal Manor Theatre in Fortuneswell, Portland, just south of Weymouth. The body painting took place in the Green Room backstage, and we had the use of the stage for the photo shoot. As well as the body painted human statues, there were also a couple of costumed human statues taking part. During the first part of the day, there were three body paintings taking place at once in the Green Room - the robot (David Smith) which I painted, the painted suit (Lorraine Henfschel), painted by Anita Boorman and Jeremy, and the woman in white (Kathy V), painted by Jeremy Holloway. After Kathy's first photo shoot as the Woman in White, we added some blue and grey paint effects applied with sponge, to turn her into a marble statue. Shortly after that, Kathy and one of the ladies taking part as a costumed human statue transformed me into a zebra. The final part of the photo shoot was dedicated to body painted gold statues. Jeremy had ordered some special oil-based metallic gold paint from Walter Stein in Germany, which was used here. |
